Africa does not need to discover a new type of energy. It rises above us every morning.

EDN Energy builds the software, hardware and infrastructure that turn abundant sunlight into reliable, dispatchable power for Africa’s homes, businesses and industries. Our platform connects distributed solar, batteries, mini-grids and smart meters into one coordinated network.

EDN is the bridge between the distribution company and the system operator. One platform gives DisCos real-time control of their grids, and the same platform creates Africa’s first virtual power plant: powered by the people, for the people.

Inefficient supply. High costs. High emissions.

More than 600 million people in Africa live without access to electricity. Energy shortages cost an estimated 2–4% of GDP every year, and Nigeria and its regional partners spend more than $20bn annually on generators.

Energy constraints slow industrialisation. EDN exists to lead Africa’s industrial era with energy: clean, reliable and affordable power for industries and homes.

A power plant built from rooftops

Nigeria recorded 12 national grid collapses in 2024. Our roadmap answers that in three steps. Year one: see and control. Year two: the fleet. Year three: islanding, a city that rides through a national collapse.

Three hundred rooftop batteries on one feeder add up to 600 kW nobody had to build. Ten thousand roofs across a DisCo make 20 MW. New generation connects in weeks, not years, with engineers based in Nigeria and offices in Abuja and London.
